Viola

What a difference a day (or two) can make.

Parasol

Perhaps I have posted too many floral sketches lately ? humm - I need to "branch out" but this one little blossom, called to me, so here it is.

Emerging

Suddenly the emerging lily blooms are everywhere - the deer have not found them yet! Maybe I will have some blooms soon! Stay tuned.

Joy of Early Summer

A Fresh local treat that lasts a short time into summer! All too brief, but blueberry season is next in line.

EDM 228 Laugh

I can't post the "word" here, (a slang word for breasts) it Really Did make me Laugh - Kids do say the darnedest things!! (had to use a adv photo to get an idea of their facade to sketch )

More WCP flowers

Thankfully this looks better today than it did last night. As soon as I got home I picked a few blossoms from the yard (heavy rain expected AGAIN) and plopped them in a cup by my drawing chair. Not really happy with this, I know I need to work on more Mixing to vary the hues. I have a rose ready to go tonight - wish me luck !

WCP wild flower

I am really struggling with water color pencils here - This little flower caught my eye on my walk, nice simple structure for a wcp sketch but not a lot of depth here.

It Was There

Admittedly I purchased this cute little dispenser because I wanted to sketch it. Last night it was empty and ready to go into the garbage when I grabbed it. And - No, there is no soy sauce in there, it is the color of the bottom of the glass bottle.

Staff of Life

Nothing better than Real Bread, warm from the oven!!

EDM 227 Tote

I confess, I am a Bag Lady - I love tote bags and have more than I care to admit. These sturdy canvas totes are my favorites, I have all sorts of sizes and colors and handle lengths - I could live In these things. Because I have so many colors I could not commit to a color here!

DSFDF- veggies

Different Strokes from Different Folks submission - Last night I just needed a break from my Water Color Pencil Class. I did this in my handbook journal and it came out better than I thought - although I wish my shadows were less flat.

WCP Rock exercise

It was evening before I could start on this exercise. I didn't want to work from a photo, so I got the only rock in the house - my door stop slab picked up at Bar Harbor, Maine. - Pretty - I pretend that is a vein of gold.

Kate's landscape demo

I chose to follow the landscape demo in Kate's WCP book - I think I need more colors - and yet I am pleased with the result, I added greens to reflect spring in my version . The sky is just what I wanted and all done with pencil. NOT happy with my tree grove, and the right side conveys a steep slope and not enough spring green ( not happy with my yellow pencils). But I got the gist of the exercise I think.

Trees and Bark Study

Did my tree/bark study yesterday when I got home from work - not happy with the scan but the sketch looks better today than I thought :)

EDM 226 "Screw"

Or so my Navy Husband / sailor told me.

WCP Value sketches

Last night I worked up 4 value sketches for Kate Johnson's online Water Color Pencil Class - it certainly is helpful with layout and values which are so Key!! My scanner, however does not like black and white apparently. I am sure there is a setting somewhere I need to adjust - sigh - something else to fiddle with.
At any rate, here they are. (graphite in WCP sketchbook)

Peas Please

Nuggets of green gold - Love them right off the vine.

WCP tomatoes

I just dove in, my tomato plant is full of green tomatoes and just screamed to be sketched. Of course I have to dive in and try a complete spread and disregard the class progression - AND I used my usual sketch book - not the book chosen for water color pencil work. But here it is, and boy do I have a lot to learn!

EDM 225 Sticky

I wanted to find something different for this challenge. Time escaped me and last night I realized I had not sketched yet. For some strange reason my mind turned to okra, which I have only cooked once from raw - slicing it revealed a very sticky, slimy interior, I have not forgotten ;-) Tasted great in the gumbo but there was an undeniable sticky factor. (I did this from memory !)
