There are two of these lovely hurricane candle stands on my dining room mantle. For the holidays I encircle the candle base with crystals which shimmer and glow and cast prisms in the flickering candle light. The base is a weathered copper metal.
Certainly as we near the most holy of Christian holidays this EDM challenge is perfect for reflection. I pray that all my EDM family has a joyous, peaceful day and a blessed new year.
Gloomy grey day as bad weather approaches, but there he is, a fat fuzzy little cardinal perched on an urn of greenery and winterberry branches. Luckily my bird feeder is near by.
One day to go -
Holiday sketch in pen and water color in Hand.Book journal.
There is snow on the ground, actually more like cement as the ocean tends to add enough moisture to turn it all to ice - but it is white. This sketch is of a local church. The steeple appears tipsy but Honest I was not drinking and the sketch is not tilted. :-)
I am still getting one holiday sketch out a day, amid all the hectic commotion - getting down to the wire now, but All my shopping is done.
From my Santa collection, a round tin Santa who's head comes off - so he is some sort of a tin container, most jovial and very rotund!Another submission in my Holiday series.
Yes, yet another Holiday study (one from my stock pile created last week) I am testing the waters on creating a sketch a day - quite a commitment and perhaps I will approach it as a goal but not a rigid commandment.
Snow Globe holiday study - or bubble boys - lackluster as I cannot depict the glistening flakes within the globe swirling wildly - so they have escaped and the bubble now protects the snow men - invasion of the blobs. A real winter Wonderland .
The little "Jingle Bells" music box that has amused me of late- and the subject of today's holiday sketch.

Yes - I work full time, clean, shop, bake, wrap, decorate and on and on for the holidays as many of us do - but I am Making time to sketch, for my own sanity. This is a very quick study of candy canes, late into the evening as there was simply little time left last night :-)
My new tree is UP in this wonderful pot- and DH said it could not be done (I love a challenge!!) So I tried my hand at copper - not easy and I will have to try again.
Our tree is very grown up now that our children have their own homes. There are only clear glass ornaments and a few golden glass. This is one of my favorites and quite a challenge for me to paint. Fun though.

What is the saying? "It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness." I love our town's tradition of a single white candle in every window for Christmas- it seems to embody the wish for peace -
Of course that means 15 candles for me (for all front facing windows) and I set them up on timers so they are twinkling as I get home from work - so here is a quick entry to depict this tradition.

The challenge is
Soothing"humm, as I have been sick for almost 2 weeks I have sought out all things soothing so I am an expert.
I knew this subject matter would be difficult but for me it proved to be impossible - I gave it two attempts (coffee cup bubbles and bath bubbles in case you can't tell ;-D - both quite soothing right now.
