Arizona Bound

Very excited, tomorrow we leave for Arizona to visit my brother and his wife. That is, IF we beat yet another winter storm expected tomorrow with another possible foot of snow on top of the two feet still on the ground. But hey, it is January in New England and that is expected. Looking forward to 70 degree temps and hikes in the mountains of the southwest. My journal needs that vacation too!! More to come.

Rectory Red

Surrounded by giant mounds of snow, the Church Rectory's red door stood out as I drove through town. Lovely old building with architectural interest (Victorian?). I knew it would brighten my journal page.

Wolf Moon

Stunning view as I turned the corner, unprepared. I had to enter it in my journal.

Trenta

Another "from memory" sketch- this time my local Starbucks - their new (ahem) larger size boggles the mind, apparently it is only for cold drinks, but still - how much is enough?? We Americans simply Have to Supersize!! This Stonehedge journal does take the wc paint well and holds the vibrancy well, not that this sketch used much color .

Gathering

The ground is frozen and 2 feet of snow - so why are there hundreds of Canadian geese in the nearby farm field? It's a long time till spring! I am testing a new journal sketchbook so I sat and tried to sketch the scene from memory - not very accurate but the journal is fun to work on (not sure I can get used to the spiral binding but it is nice to not fight for flatness ;-) Stonehenge journal

Solitude

There is something about the clean, clear, quiet, cold, white of freshly fallen snow. It makes a person pause, and reflect . . .

Benedict Blast

Lately I have been so blah, uninspired and just could not generate any interest in drawing. Thanks to Kate's new blog I Just started with the mundane - husband's shovels standing at the ready for the upcoming blizzard, and then I let it flow as the snow piled up. Quite a fun spread by it's end (and yet it is still snowing - soooooo beautiful and I will paint some winter next!)

Ted Williams

I was so inspired by this man's story I had to enter it in my blog (last week!) I simply could not get it uploaded though. So here it is, sure hope he can mainstream in tact.

Goodbye 2010

2010 was a trying year in our house. Yes there were good memories and I try to focus on those. But the year ended harshley as well. I hope 2011 will be kinder and gentler.
