Naval Reunion 2009

The Naval reunion took us to Patriot's Point and a tour of the USS Yorktown - always an amazing tour. Arrangements were made for us to eat lunch in the Chief''s galley - on regulation metal trays, served via the mess line - almost the real deal. Of course the chief's galley is quite posh compared to standard sailor fare.
After the 5 day reunion in Myrtle Beach we extended for a couple of personal days in Charleston. What an amazing, gracious city!!! More pix to come.

Myrtle Beach

We just returned from a week in South Carolina for Doug's annual Naval Reunion (DD-830 , Destroyer). I had never been to South Carolina, the beach was gorgeous, and with the off season, rather quiet. The area is a mecca for golfers (regular and mini) and beach lovers, something for every one. I did not have enough time to sketch, but I continue to work on pages now at home.

EDM 244

Another Quickie - maybe 10 min on this one, I knew immediately where to find the oldest items in the refrigerator. Hot sauces seem to multiply in there and I think they last forever, don't they ;-)
Our annual apple pick - Liam and Luke age 3 and Joey age 2, my daughter Rachel and I rode the farm tractor into the orchard to pick (and eat) a variety of apples. The grass was wet but the sun was shining and we had great fun.

Maid in Waiting

A beauty in my own front yard - We have a big patch of these lovely delicate ferns each year. A native to the woods that stood around our home. I learned they are Northern Maiden Hair Ferns, and quite slow to spread, the patch we have must be a century old - I am guessing, maybe older. Now, thanks to my journal I have inspected a frond closely and journaled about it all.

Birthday- to- Dos

My son brought me chocolate cake for breakfast (which I ate at breakfast) so it is already a good day ;-)
