EDM 204- frosty

I have always admire the glistening beauty of icicles.
We are in our house in Maine and the warm thaw of yesterday has yielded a glorious crop for study. There is quite a contrast with ice and sun - fun, difficult and yet very rewarding to sketch (from inside anyway).

Are we There Yet?

Chirstmas colors

Rain today, but the snow held out so it was a White Christmas!

Remember?

As I sit down to rest and reflect on all the presents and cookies and festivities planned I can't help but remember.

EDM 203 Glass of Juice

I do not drink juice, too much sugar - fresh fruits are healthier. But if I have a cold I do drink OJ - usually with some added Vodka - for medicinal purposes you see ;-) Whew, only one more challenge coming for 2008 and I do believe I did them all - a personal goal of mine to force at least one sketch a week - hope the last one will be a zinger of some sort.

Silent Night

Big snow here today - a lovely fresh canvas. Hopefully a White Christmas - Peace to All.

EDM 202 Cookie

Holidays are full of food, especially cookies at this time of year - the EDM challenge fit perfectly , even though there was no time to bake cookies, let alone sketch them - This is in my plan anyway -
A week ago I was inspired to sketch this little favorite and I could have used it for the EDM challenge, but opted not to. I think my love of this particular cookie shows. Happy Holidays everyone, don't eat too many cookies!

Jingle Bells

Our Huge Christmas trees used to be filled with sentimental ornaments . - this little guy brings back memories!

Cracked

It's that time of year.

Kisses

My youngest daughter's favorite - not a traditional Christmas cookie style but an extra yummy treat in our house.

VSD Dec 2008

This is the December subject for Virtual Sketch Date 08 . My entry is better than I feared - It had been looking very bland and lifeless in my journal but deepening the values helped tremendously - I still think it needs something for pow. Practice, practice, that is the only answer (with patience added!) and it was fun.

EDM 201 Stapler

This mammoth stapler is God like in our office - it will contain a tall unruly stack of paper like Nothing else, and with amazing ease. Of course removing these staples is almost impossible I hate to think what it could do to flesh ~ ~

December 9, 2008

Our Christmas tree has been downsized big time- but every year I remember the tree that toppled over - this safety tradition has now been passed on to our children with children of their own. Our Beams still show the 'scars' ;-)

Tree Time

Since the kids have moved out this seems like such a CHORE - until I get the lights and star on top lit and then sit back in the dark to reflect and suddenly - ahhhhhh.

Turkey Again ?

Still appearing nightly - Turkey - Tah Dah!! I do love turkey and this year I cooked two 20 pounders!! There were lots of leftovers to share. So far we have had - turkey sandwiches (with Cranberry Chutney, my specialty) Turkey Tetrazzini, and Turkey pot pie (with a second pot pie frozen for later) - Turkey ice cream may be next.

EDM 200 Lucky

Strangely, I found this one very difficult. I decided to reflect on Karma and included my favorite number and color. AND I attempted a very simple line self portrait - which is why I look soooo serious (and I doubt any one would recognize me from this sketch!)
