What a lovely journal entry (and I love the painting of the dog!). I have one grandchild (Clyde, almost 18 months old), and I can't believe how wonderful it is to be a grandparent. They just get to be more interesting and fun every day.

I am also blessed... my one and only grandchild is also Alyssa! And she is 7 and in the 2nd grade. She will be 8 in December. What thoughtful birthday words. The in-your-face dog portrait brought a smile.

You know, when I first saw this painting it immediately reminded me of Andrew Wyeth's paintings which were rendered with tempera paints. Gorgeous!
