Jane LaFazio Lesson 3

Blind contour- actually continual line, never lifting pen from paper (no pencil) quite liberating and FUN!

Fall - as noun

Different technique - and I struggled way too much - this technique was supposed to be fast and spontaneous. My journal paper and niji waterbrush just will not allow that in this type of sketch. But - this morning I decided it was not half bad and I should post it any way.

More greens

Hum- this looks better than it did last night ;-) I guess sunlight always helps. I was going for more contrast between these two cacti - but hey - it ain't as bad as I thought?
I'm over thinking the white specs, and still not thrilled with the dark greens I am mixing, I think I need to go back to the "mixing board" for more possibilities - Hopefully I fan find some "go to" mixes.

Lesson Two

GREEN is the lesson this week, we are surrounded by thousands of shades of green (at least I am in New England) and I am rarely happy with the greens I mix for specific situations. We started by mixing some basic shades then chose three subjects to tackle. I am not thrilled with my page but will try, try again ;-) (this is a fun class!!)

First class again

I have done several exercises with the fruit in a box, - I am still not happy with the crispness and lackluster color in my work, I have good paints and paper - so it must be me jut messing with it all too much?? Oh Well, ready for lesson Two!!

Lesson one started with Jane LaFazio - I just love her bright clear approach and know I will learn lots in this lively class.

Falling

The oaks have been prolific this fall, it is almost hazardous to walk in the front yard! I believe this predicts a hard winter for New England?? But the squirrels sure love it - no hunting required, just gathering.

Escargot anyone?

SAVED from the inevitable frost - potted and brought inside before the heat comes on - this charming Rex Begonia ruffles and spirals outward in a most charming fashion, so as to resemble a snail. Hopefully it will bring me summer's joy all winter long on my windowsill.

Can Halloween be Far??

Thinking of Jane LaFazio and her upcoming workshop inspired this vignette - we painted pumpkins when I attended her workshop in northern NY state - I love odd gourds and pumpkins (this one is cream colored) and my grandsons Love "Piders" so this little $1.49 cutie had to come home with me. This holiday and season present lots of colorful sketching potential.

Gould Academy Alumni Reunion 2010

Yes, another reunion for hubby. A weekend full of fun, food/wine and great memories shared. But we were glad to be heading home and staying put for a while.
