The Olympics have brought Vancouver BC into the lime light and it is a beautiful, intriguing land. I have a nephew in college at UBC and I can understand a great deal of the appeal .
Apparently the area does have a lot of rain and fog, which is why the Whistler Mountain was originally names London Mountain.

Absolutely majestic! Makes me want to visit Whistler one day.... oh I wish I could be there right now!!
