EDM #124 Yellow (1st try)
My rather lame attempt at a budding black-eyed-susan - AND I did not know the EDM challenge this week is Yellow ! I am fairly happy with the vase but could not get what I wanted in the flower, so of course -I over worked it! As always I learn from every attempt. The water/vase I worked very wet and planned for some white, the 3 primaries I used did not make a nice green and I was stuck with it (or so I thought) and I tried to repair it and that does not work, plus the paper is just plain journal paper and that did not help. I am almost finished with this journal and will probably use the Fabriano Artistico Moleskine (I reloaded) for my next journal. I will try this one again as I have many black-eyed-susans ;-)
For those interested I chose New Gambouge, Cobalt blue and Cadmium red (and YES I will experiment with 3 pigments to see if I like the results First - I always do rush things -and Please suggest anything that I should do to improve overall )

Sandy == nice job, really!! And the vase is superb!! Daisylike flowers can certainly be challenging!
I really like this Sandy! The vase is wonderful and I like the size of it in relation to the blossom.
amazing job on the water. One thing I have learnt - when approaching something new do it several times- the more you draw/paint it, the better you will know it.
Very nice job on the vase and I actually like the color of the flowers. I agree with Sarah above...doing the same subject again and again, is an excellent way to practice some new tecnique or a new combo of colors.

Wow Sandy! It's beautiful! I certainly can't tell you overworked it! The vase looks really good! Glass is hard to paint and make it LOOK like glass! Good job! Joyce
Hey, nice reflections on the vase! I really like the flower too. Nice choice of yellows.
I think this is a lovely first attempt - The composition and the petals are perfect, and you did a great job with the vase. I'm sure it will just get better and better the more you do it.
Black-eyed Susies bring back really fond memories for me - they used to grow wild around our lake house when I was growning up as a kid. I've never had any luck domesticating them, but your paintings inspired me to try again.
Sandy, your vase is perfect! The Blackeyed Susan looks like they sometimes do, not always perfectly layed out, as to your color choices, they look dead on! You have some really nice stuff on you blog!
Sandy, this is beautiful! I love the flower and the water and vase. If you're not happy with those greens, try adding some purple or indigo blue. Just a little to accent the darker areas. Always works for me. Keep up the great work!
