Thank you all for your comments and suggestions, I did as the majority voted and added a slight blue wash - actually a bit more noticeable than this scanned. It does help, glad I did not 'fuss it up' but listened to your wise words. Thank you all for your support and suggestions.
A tidbit more of spring. I was unsure what to do for a background of this fellow, there is definitely something missing and I would appreciate suggestions.

This is nice! I like it the way it is. If you feel it needs something what about a wash of blue like you did on the forsythia?
Oh, Sandy, your Robin is soo wonderful, and I love the simplicity of the painting. I agree, maybe just a dusting of background color to give it a bit more depth?
Great job! And I 100% agree with Ann!
Very good. I'll agree with Ann, just a light wash of blue like the forsythia but it could stand alone too.
Lovely job on the robin....like the strong colors of it
Ohh..I have to remember to keep coming back here, you have some nice sketches. Love the bird!~

I like it just the way it is! That is one pretty bird!
adding a background color, unless it's very very light, will make the robin not stand out as much. the background may be missing to you but if you had not mentioned it I would have thought this was finished. it seems to me that if the background was as important you would have painted it first and you didn't. that should tell you something. those are my thoughts. i like it a lot the way it is!
It is beautiful. I, too, think that the light blue would be nice.
Hmm, I'll throw my lot in with Gabi. It seems like this is a Robin "portrait"... and he/she stands by himself. No need for clutter, imo.
This is stunning as it stands but if you wanted to add anything I might add just a light wash of blue in the left hand corner coming down toward the Robbin, not dark and not a lot so you don't distract from him.
Actually I'd do it coming in from the right. When I was typing, I had forgotten how high up that left branch went.
What a cutie robin, a true harbiner of spring!!
Beautiful painting!
ahhhh looks great.
I thought I had already responded to your request, but I can't see a comment from me ... I must have had a "brunette" moment!
I wanted to suggest a blue background too, and although I would have been tempted to make it even stronger than you've done here, you say that in "real" it's more noticeable so I would guess it must be spot-on :)
I only learnt the other day that American and British "robin redbreasts" are different!
I like this a lot - and even better since you added the soft wash of blue in the background.
Just GREAT! You've even captured a robin's personality!
Perfect! You wouldn't want any more than what you did.
Your robin looks beautiful Sandy...and it looks great with the touch in the background
