EDM #180 Favorite Color

LIME GREEN
Only recently did I realize I love lime green, (in fact all citrus colors) I do have difficulty with my WC green mixes, although I do believe I am getting better. Just recently I learned adding some red makes a deeper green (never would have guessed that one). So I tried my hand at some green grapes, nice and lime-ish . Actual limes would have been too obvious! But, I may expand and try them next. Pencil and Watercolor in my hand.book journal (and I did not work this WET enough!!!)

Good, Sandi!
Yes, adding the complement darkens green. I love to use sap green and alizarin crimson to make it richer. A dark blue can work, too. Anything but black!

Love the colors of these grapes. I think the first bite would be very tangy. I know!....gotta love those reds.

Having just come from mixing some lime-ish greens of my own, I was thrilled to see your wonderful grapes! I LOVE the way you've made those grapes pop!

Hi Sandi, thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog! I look forward to checking out the links in your previous posts. I and most watercolorists I know have "trouble" with green, but it's amazing what colors you can get when you try new mixes: it's like magic. I darken green with burnt sienna too.

They look really good. Thanks for the tip about the greens. Guess its time to back and look at what happens when you mix colours again.

Beautiful green! I didn't know about adding red either, makes sense though. I like the painting crisp and sharp!
