Before the festivities began on the fourth - I did this quick sketch from a reference photo and later filled it in with juicy watercolor (the handbook journal requires a lot of water!). I adore poppies but cannot grow them, so I can try to paint them.

Love your poppies Sandy, they're beautiful and juicy, like you've intended. Our fields of poppies have finished by now and the sunflowers are starting to get colour...usually a beuatiful display. You're inspiring me to try get them down on paper...

These are wonderful poppies! I just painted some red ones and never even knew there were red ones until I found them in my neighbor's yard!
