EDM 127 Sky

I know an artist could spend their life trying to capture a skyscape with paint - there is NO artist like the one above. This challenge I tried several times and found this painting to be the most dramatic and somewhat realistic. I am working in my journal and certainly should have a larger page and better paper for sure but it is still a fun learning experience
This tree scene is reworked from a lesson with Kate Johnson (on line classes) as the dark trees contrast beautifully with the New England sky. I need to work on some simple cloudy skies and will probably post them later.

Sandy,
I LOVE the evergreen trees! Skies are really quite wonderful as well - but I'm going to ask you for a tree lesson for sure!

Sandy you did good with your skyscapes! I never was one that was good with sky painting so that is one I really should work on! I also love the one you did of your mailbox and the sky! Joyce

These are amazing, Sandy! I love the skies - and I think the next sketchcrawl should have a tree theme!

Sandy, I lke these very much. The colors are deep and rich and the sky effects are so dramatic.

Great sketches Sandy - the colors are beautiful, and I love the drama of those trees in the bottom one. I applaud your determination AND your success - I wouldn't even begin to attempt a sky.

Two glorious skyscapes. Those trees in the second one - lovely against that sky.

I love the energy of the first one and that's the one I'd hang in my fantasy art gallery where all of my online art friends would have a painting hanging! We'd have a reception of course and I'd serve my killer Sangria and we'd all laugh and mingle and get tree lessons from you, people lessons from Casey and Shirley would show us how to sketch London!

Sandy, I think both of these came out with a lot feeling! I love both the light shining down through the clouds on the top one and the contrast of the trees against the sky on the second one. Clouds are just plain hard! There have been times when I have looked at the sky and laughed thinking if I painted that someone would say "No, clouds don't form like that..."
