Sketching one's home is a lot like doing a self
portrait, all too familiar with the subject and unable to view
simplistically. This was a difficult subject for me , no matter how I tried I could not stop the over clutter and overwork. But here is our home.
This was our starter house in 1972, smallish for the area and lots of finish work to do ourselves. Now 36 years later we have added on in every direction- including up. All three children grew up here and now the
grandkids visit. Too much space for the two of us, but we love the neighborhood and proximity to the shore. There is little greenery right now but I added some to depict spring.

The house is Long, so I tried this sketch (kind of a blob) and inked in the huge oaks that would have otherwise blocked the view. The best thing we ever added was the front porch!
I Love architectural sketches but obviously need to work on this skill quite a bit!
