EDM #166 Fish

This time of year my local nursery tantalizes me with all sorts of trees/shrubs, perennials/annuals, furniture/chimmineas, wind chimes/sculptures and on and on - but the Koi (or Coi) pond fascinates me. I took this picture a couple of weeks ago, but doubted I could ever sketch it - this challenge forced me to try . Difficult, but at least I can recognize the scene so I am happy.

Looks calming. Ponds are nice. We have a small one and have goldfish in ours. It is nice to come up out of my basement office and stand by and watch them while eating a sandwich or just taking a break. It would be nice to get a dry weekend so that I can clean up around it.

Sandy!! This is truly incredible!!! You have mastered that watery look -- the fish under it - and the feeling of tranquility these types of fish and water venues are supposed to!! BRAVA, cara!!!!!! WELL DONE!~

You might not have been 100% pleased with the koi themselves, but your dp spread in the journal is wonderfully laid out... as if we could stick our toes in! The water ripples are enviable (to me -- for whom water is a huge mystery to paint).

This is an awesome spread. I like the way the one in the foreground really looks UNDER water!

Great job on getting the fish "below" the water! I think the whole thing is beautifully done!

I love the triad too, just have a special fondness for this kind of art...
