EDM #98 Free Choice

Started with a box in November, watered and sunned and Viola!! Asimple bulb teaches us so much, that something brown and dry and seemingly dead can -unveil such blazing beauty with simple nurture. Such beauty I cannot capture - The best things in life are free (well, ok I bought the bulb) Sketched in stages then the full bloom rendered a sketch followed by water color washes - probably over worked, but this is the first time I was brave enough to add a deep background - always experimenting and learning.

FANTASTIC! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE EVOLUTION YOU DID -- YOUR LINES ARE INCREDIBLE!! GREAT DETAILING!! aND THE FINAL RESULT -- SUPERIOR!!! I have a box of amaryllis as a gift for my mom -- and seeing this reminds me of what a pleasure it will be for her!

This worked out beautifully from the original sketches to the final watercolor. Thanks.

This is gorgeous! I see this, as well as another peek at those bottles, and I have no doubt that color is more important than reality. Specifically, that brilliant background. Nice! Now I wish "my" (your painting, but I'm calling it my) bottles had a background like that, because I'm curious how the result would look. Thanks for painting this.

Loved all of your recent entries, but especially this one. Last year I sketched the tulips emerging, growing, blooming in front of our New York apartment house for the EDM Challenge first sign of spring and adored the experience. And I'm not even a gardener or nautre lover....

I love this sequential approach to the amaryllis! One year my husband measured ours as it grew, inches per day! I'm glad you found some time to make art! Hope it continues in 2007! Nice work--Carol C.
