New Peach

Well it is a peach, I tried a loose wash on the fruit and then salt but not terribly happy with the outcome - I do, however, like to look back and see improvement so here it is - Posted. It was a fun project worth re- visiting. And I do Love the local peaches.

Food Glorious Food

Liz of Borromini Bear and Barbara of BYarborough's have been doing food journals. They helped launch me into a LC plan of my own to loose 10 pounds (AGAIN) and I thought I would attempt a sketch too - Well perhaps I would improve with more attempts, but this is hard! Greens and veggies are Hard to sketch. Now Twinkies or french fries or pancakes with syrup I could sketch - but alas, would Not lose 10 pounds.

Petal Power

Quick sketch I overworked with ink - will I ever learn? I think I need to set a timer and GO, see if that loosens me up and limited fussing too much.

EDM #176 Summer

Ah summer, hard to pick just one thing that brings summer to mind. I started with watermelon, a special summer treat to be eaten outside. Which reminds me of the picnic table, which reminded me of summer vacations along the coast of Maine, which reminded me of cozy campfires. So there you have my evolution - which is exactly the order in which I sketched and painted.

Tahoe

Because I so admire the landscapes posted I decided to throw myself into them (well not literally, but this one would be refreshing). Although I have not traveled as much as I would like, I have seen some lovely places. I decided to work on some old pictures of places I have lived or visited - a nice addition to my sketchbook and good practice. I start with Lake Tahoe, anyone who has been there has seen true majesty.

Perennial Geraniums

An attempt at over lapping glazes to reflect the delicate petals of perennial geraniums - I am happy with the outcome but the scan would not reflect this example well.

EDM 175 Basket x 2

I am not a basketball fan, but this image just screamed "Basket"

Summer Breeze - - -

Makes ME feel fine - even on day 4 of a heat wave but, this morning its all gone- what a difference a day makes - or like they say in New England, if you don't like the weather , wait a minute.
Another fast and furious sketch, really enjoying less thinking and fussing and more play.

Yale Professor Jones

I labored over this way too long and just now noticed the wonky slant - Well Yale is old, maybe it does slant a bit ;-). Indiana Jones was quite a disappointment , except for the scenes at Yale . IMHO

Still Hot

Only dashed out to pick a peony. Poor thing loved getting its own vase of water I am sure. A fast and furious sketch for me as I try to become quicker and looser. The orange border just reflected my vision of the day's heat. They promise a break tonight and I am holding them to it!

HOT

Whew, this heat came on too fast, it was in the 60s Friday and then mid 90s on Sat, Sun and Still counting. Probably another day or two of heat wave then the low 80s will feel wonderful. As usual it is the dang Humidity that's insufferable.

EDM 174 Bridge

The Merritt Parkway snakes along parallel to I95 on Connecticut's shoreline to New York City. No commercial vehicles are allowed creating a lovely pastoral , 2 lane drive - The route is tree lined and each overpass bridge is different and distinctive. This one is the James Farm Road Bridge in Stratford. adorned by the Nike Wings - which I chose to detail in the foreground.

the Road Less Traveled

This catalog picture caught my eye and reminded me of a less complicated life. (although there gas is required here, so that would complicate any life~!)

EDM #173 - From Memory

This weekend as I ran errands I stopped at Starbucks for a latte and lunch. This pretty fruit and cheese plate (plus raisin bread) was quite memorable and sketch worthy.
